about
A post-apocalyptic hyper pop video game. West Coast producer Skinny Local’s latest single, featuring South Indian rapper ThirumaLi, beckons us into a dystopian dreamscape replete with synthetic sirens, tweaked percussion, and a blistering lyrical flow. ThirumaLi says the song is “about greed, obsession, pain, the most common yet negative human emotions and how they are destroying the well being of mankind” expressed in his native Malayali tongue. Thalavara started with a forgotten beat on Skinny’s laptop that came to life with ThirumaLi’s vocals, inspiring a fresh round of production, bringing what Skinny describes as “a hyperpop, industrial approach with video game driving sounds.” We can’t wait until someone makes the game for this song - a true East/West North/South pandemic era collaboration.
